ISO/IEC 27001 comprises information security standards published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving a documented Information Security Management System (ISMS) within the context of the organization’s overall business risks. The ISMS is designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls that protect information assets and give confidence to interested parties.

The WLA Security Control Standard is a comprehensive set of controls and standards for lottery operators, including compliance with the ISO/IEC 27001 Standard, for information security management systems. Certification to this standard verifies an organization’s risk management strategies and processes and clearly demonstrates to stakeholders that there is effective security that they can trust and to national and state regulators that the organization is committed to measurable security, integrity and compliance with independent accreditation.
