PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (US) – September 01, 2008 - GTECH Global Services Corporation announced that it has signed a 16-month contract extension to continue providing online lottery technology and services to La Société de Gestion de la Loterie Nationale and La Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (“the Lotteries”) in Morocco. The extension will commence in April 2009 and extends GTECH’s integrated services contract with the Lotteries until August 2010. GTECH has been the Lotteries’ primary service provider since 2000, when the Company brought both lotteries from offline to online, via one integrated online central system.
The Company expects to receive revenues of approximately €16 million over the extension term, commencing in the second quarter of 2009.
“Since the launch of the Lotteries’ online games in 2000, lottery sales have increased six-fold,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “This great performance was achieved working together with the Lotteries on retailer expansion and through a number of new games such as the successful launch of Daily Keno and Oddset. In 2006, GTECH’s branded game Pick n’ Play debuted and now accounts for more than 25% of Loterie Nationale’s total sales. Earlier this year, we launched a five-minute monitor game, Chrono, in a number of new and existing retail locations, which accounts for 42% of sales for La Marocaine des Jeux.”
Under the extension, GTECH will continue to maintain and operate the Lotteries’ online central system, as well as the communications network and lottery terminals. Moreover, GTECH will continue to offer ongoing services to the Lotteries such as field service, retailer training, marketing and sales support, and call center support services.
